The 19 state rooms form the heart of the palace and are lavishly furnished with some of the greatest treasures of the royal collection: paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Poussin and Canaletto; sculptures by Canova; exquisite examples of Sèvres porcelain.
The garden, described as an oasis in the middle of London, is home to thirty different species of birds and more than 350 rare flowers and plants. The visit concludes with a walk along the south side of the garden, and a splendid view of the west side of the Palace and the famous lake.
The Palace is the centrepiece of Britain's constitutional monarchy. It houses the offices that govern the day-to-day activities and duties of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh and the royal family.
For safety reasons pushchairs are not permitted in the State Rooms. They can be left and collected on the way out. Loaner strollers are available for use during the visit.
A one-way system is used for security (you cannot go back and forth at will).
Photos and video footage for private use only. All phones and mobile devices must be switched off during the visit.
