Explorer Pass

Just show your pass printout, or show your smartphone screen, to get free entry. The GO City New York Explorer Pass allows you to visit any of the included attractions. Metrocard

On the Subway
You swipe your MetroCard in the MetroCard reader: the word ‘GO’ appears and you can swipe. If ‘Please swipe again’ appears, swipe your MetroCard again or switch to another reader.

By bus
Get on the front of the bus and as you board the bus, hold the MetroCard with the black strip on the right and the name MetroCard in front of you, insert it fully into the reader which is directly in front of you, it is automatically returned to you by the reader: you can then be seated for your journey.

Explorer Pass

The Pass is valid for two years from the day of purchase.
From the time of first use
the Pass will be valid for the number of consecutive days you have purchased, regardless of the time of first use.

Metrocard

After first use it will be valid for 7 consecutive days. For example: if you use it for the first time on a Thursday at any time, the card will expire at midnight the following Wednesday.

All passes are valid for one year from the day of issue. Changes to your travel dates are possible and you don't have to do anything.

Also within one year of the issue of the passes, you can request a refund without penalty. Only the administrative fee of € 9.20 will be charged, which is fixed, not per person but per refund file.

The condition for a refund is that the passes have never been used. Partial use does not entitle you to a refund.
